Lucy Westenra
Sadie Frost plays Lucy Westenra in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
Lucy Westenra is a fictional character from Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. She is the 19-year-old daughter of a wealthy family. Her father's name is not mentioned in the novel, and her elderly mother is only known as Mrs. Westenra.
Lucy is the best friend of Mina Murray. In the 1931 cinematic production by Universal Studios, she is called Lucy Weston. In the 1958 version by Hammer Film Productions, she is named Lucy Holmwood and engaged to Lord Holmwood.
In Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula (1992), Lucy is portrayed by Sadie Frost. This version of Lucy is much more sexualized than her literary incarnation, making her more seductive, flirtatious, and even tempting, with many references to sex.
As a pampered aristocrat's daughter, she speaks with innocence and frankness. (Unlike her friend Mina, who remains steadfast, Lucy's sexual tendencies lead to her downfall).
She falls into Dracula's clutches due to a sleepwalking crisis, and Dracula abuses her in the garden. From that moment on, she gradually transforms into a vampire and ends up being killed by Van Helsing and her beloved fiancé in an attempt to save her from the damnation of her spirit.
The character had significant scenes exploring her constant flirtation with her three suitors, other scenes regarding Dracula's attacks, and her illness that were cut in the theatrical version of the film but were shown in home video releases.
