Leda and the Swan
Igor Zeinalov's sculpture, created in 1959, offers a unique interpretation of the myth of Leda and the Swan, highlighting Leda's apparent acceptance of the swan, in contrast to other representations of the same myth.
In the legend, Zeus, transformed into a swan, unites with Leda, who had also been with her husband Tyndareus that same night. From this union, two eggs are produced, from which four children emerge: Helen and Pollux, children of Zeus, and Clytemnestra and Castor, children of Tyndareus.
